I have maintained for a long time that many people have lost sight of the definition of "Racist" and what it actually means. Of late, it has become nothing more than a word of convenience, a white manager doing his job properly is labelled a racist when disciplining correctly, whites criticising Government because of bad policies are often labelled racist, but are they really?

Compare the following, "If I dislike someone because they are black", that is racist but, "If I dislike someone who is an arse-hole, who happens to black", is that racist, hardly? However, they are very often thrown into the same box.

Many white people get upset and offended when labelled a racist because they only understand the meaning in its most ugliest form. We need to realise [educate] that being called racist is not always a personal attack but is rather about the system that we live in. To redefine racist, as Justin has written, is a start, but to really understand what a racist is we also need to look at what racism is. Perhaps the following articles may help [I need to point out that, of this minute, I have not finished reading the Harvard article so please excuse me taking a chance on this on!]
