Prof Jansen says a similar thing and it is excellent….step out and associate with different people; expose yourself; hear different ideas. By surrounding ourselves with people who look and sound just like we do we are limiting ourselves enormously. Thanks for the comment Ian.

There is nothing wrong with being white, as there is nothing wrong with being black! However, we might ask “How can we have a truly equal, non-racial society if everyone clings their racial identity”. Integration is though, a matter of choice. Either you do, or you don’t. I do not believe being white is the problem. Like a book, skin colour is only the cover. and as they say “never judge a book by its cover”.
For hundreds of years white people have been told that they are superior to others. For many that is not going to change overnight. Unfortunately I do not see a solution anywhere in the near future.
I was lucky though. I was introduced to the vibrant township life shortly after I arrived in SA in the mid eighties [strangely enough by an Afrikaans Air Force Sergent].
But the world over, not just SA, society has become evil, materialistic and selfish.
Thus, may we consider a note found on my 7 year old daughters bedroom wall “Lord, help us to see the world as it could be”. There is some light at lest!. But perhaps the best advice would be “Become friends with people who are not your age. Hang out with people whose first language is not the same as yours. Get to know who doesn’t come from your social class. This is how you see the world. This is how you grow”. [found on Spirit Science].
